Joining with us, he not only conducts CPD/CPT courses for lawyers, securities brokers, financial planners, investment advisors, accountants and other senior executives, he will also assists us on course development for Workplace English Campaign and Continuing Education Funding courses. |

Course Objective and Highlight : |

The aim of this course is to provide a practical guide for commercial and corporate lawyers, bankers and other professionals to meet the needs for daily practice. We will go through our effective writing skills manual and textbook “International Legal English written by Amy Krois-Linder and TransLegal, Cambridge” including |

- Common Grammatical / Punctuation Mistakes |
||
|
- Review of the basic skill of drafting a commercial document, including obtaining instructions from clients, use of precedents, researching and applying the law as well as usage of terminology and points to watch out |

|
- Drafting Techniques of various kinds of legal and commercial document such as legal opinion / letter of advice / loans or shareholders’ agreement / agreement for sales and purchase / tenancy agreement etc |

- Going through practical examples / precedents to improve your drafting skills |
||
|
- Meeting reports: Structure, Layout, Language (Review of Reported Speech, Use of Active and Subjunctive), The Process of Writing, Summarizing Skills (teach how to take notes during a meeting – obtaining instructions, checking understanding, probing your client and oral summarizing) |

- Remark: All attendees are encouraged to email some writing drafts to training@central-learning.com 7 days prior to the event date for in-class discussion in the workshop. Marvin who holds two Master degree (one is under taken) and one Doctorial degree in theology including study of ancient languages is very sophisticated in teaching English skills on Presentation, Writing, Negotiation and Meeting, as well as Telephone Skills. In the workshop, he acts as a facilitator to point out the general English writing technique and common mistakes on writing legal documents and other types of business correspondence based on the supplementary notes, textbooks and your materials |
